Sam Carrick had limited ice time but did his best to get the Edmonton Oilers into the game.
EDMONTON -- Once again the Edmonton Oilers play down to lower competition.
The last time the Oilers played the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Blue Jackets came out strong as well. Even though they won that game 4-1, their opponents dominated play for the first two periods.

The Oilers were out-shot 22-13 heading into the third - where they scored three unanswered goals to put the game away.
It looks like the Blue Jackets took a page out of the Oilers playbook - as they kicked off last night's rematch with three consecutive goals of their own. Mathieu Olivier, Alexander Nylander and Dmitri Voronkov scored in the first period, and that was all they would need to win the game.
It was also Sam Carrick and Adam Henrique's Oilers debut. Things obviously didn't go great for the team, but Carrick did what he could to try to fire up his teammates.
Having just surrendered their second goal against, Carrick challenges Olivier to a fight - which he willingly accepts.
Good on Carrick for doing what he can to help bring the Oilers emotions up. With the team down 2-0 there is no harm in him trying to bring the rest of his teammates into the game with this effort.
The Oilers were able to get close - Zach Hyman and Corey Perry scored to make it a 3-2 game. Ultimately it was too little, too late.
Oilers have a practice today and an opportunity to brush off the loss with a game against the Buffalo Sabres tomorrow.
