

The NHL announced the Lady Byng Trophy award winner on Thursday as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
The trophy is awarded “to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability."
Carolina Hurricanes' defenseman Jaccob Slavin was the recipient of the award this year. Slavin was named on 149 of the 194 ballots as a top-five selection, with more than half of all ballots placing him in the top two (81 first-place votes, 33 second-place votes).
Marc-Andre Fleury finished ninth in voting. He got four first-place votes, six second-place votes, two third-place votes, zero fourth, and four fifth-place votes. Fleury finished with 96 total points.
