On this day in Minnesota Wild history, the Vegas Golden Knights defeat the Wild 6-2 in game seven of the playoffs.

It was on this day in 2021 that the Wild lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 6-2 in the first round of the NHL playoffs.

The Wild won the first game of the series but lost the next three. Down 3-1 in the series, the Wild were able to rattle off two straight wins, one on the road and one at home to force game seven back in Vegas.

Mattias Janmark put an end to the Wild's hopes of advancing by scoring three of Vegas' six goals in the win. Cam Talbot, the Wild's goaltender, stopped 28 out of the 33 shots he faced.

Marc-Andre Fleury, the Golden Knights' goaltender, stopped 18 out of the 20 shots he faced in the win. Fleury was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks in the offseason after the playoffs and eventually was traded to the Wild at the trade deadline the next season.

Kirill Kaprizov and Zach Parise had the only goals for the Wild in that game. Parise, along with Ryan Suter, were bought out by the Wild in the offseason after that series.

The Wild went 35-16-5 that season in 56 games of the shortened season. Only eight players out of the 22 who appeared in that playoff series still remain on the Wild.

Jonas Brodin, Jared Spurgeon, Kirill Kaprizov, Mats Zuccarello, Joel Eriksson Ek, Marcus Foligno, Ryan Hartman, and Marcus Johansson make up the eight.
