ST. PAUL, Minn - The Minnesota Wild made a roster move on Sunday by sending defensive prospect David Spacek down to the American Hockey League (AHL).
Before the game against the Florida Panthers on Saturday, Wild head coach John Hynes talked about playing Spacek and David Jiricek.
They both are young right-shot defensemen. With Zach Bogosian still out, the Wild rotated Spacek and Jiricek for a few games. Jiricek has gotten the last few though.
“I thought Spac did a good job. Bogo’s out right now, so it doesn’t mean that he’s not going to get another chance," Hynes said. "It’s just two young guys trying to figure out who’s going to play what games right now. Spac came in, he was efficient, I thought he moved the puck pretty well.
"Structurally, he was good. So, it was a good game for him to get into. And then I thought in Montreal he had another pretty solid game, too. But we’re trying to balance obviously with him and Jiricek of getting the guys different opportunities to play.”
Just a day after Hynes said there might be a chance for Spacek to play again, the Wild have sent him down.
This means Bogosian might be nearing a return.
