Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim did not practice today, but suspended head coach John Tortorella said it was just for maintenance.
Sanheim had an awkward collision with Tampa Bay Lightning forward Adam Glendening in the second period of the team's last game.
The Flyers were already playing with five defensemen in the game, as Egor Zamula was sick and unavailable. Sanheim finished the game and played 28:49, which was a season-high.
Tortorella quickly said yes when asked if he expects the Flyers to have six defensemen available for tomorrow night's game against the San Jose Sharks.
Zamula didn't skate today either, and the team recalled Adam Ginning from the AHL.
With Nick Seeler, Jamie Drysdale, and Rasmus Ristolainen already on IR, the Flyers cannot afford to lose Sanheim. Sanheim is enjoying a career season with 38 points and has been the team's No. 1 defenseman.
