Former Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom has reportedly been looking into returning to his home country of Sweden this offseason following a disappointing 2023-24 campaign.
Lindblom, who signed with the San Jose Sharks in 2022, has only played one NHL game this season, spending most of his time in the AHL with the San Jose Barracuda, where he has tallied eight goals and eight assists across 41 games.
SHL side Brynäs—where Lindblom played for most of his youth hockey career—has confirmed that the team has been communicating with Lindblom since November, according to a report from Gefle Dagblad.
"We have been talking to him since November," said Brynäs sporting director Johan Alcén. "We've been banking on him, but he needs to make a choice. We stand with open arms if he wants to go home. He is welcome here whenever he wants."
No moves have officially been made as of publication, but Lindblom will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
Lindblom spent five seasons with the Flyers, winning the Masterson Trophy for "perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey" in the 2020-21 season after he returned to the NHL following a battle with Ewing's sarcoma, a type of bone cancer.
The Swedish forward has 50 goals and 47 assists during his 263 games in orange and black.
