Former Philadelphia Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette got into a heated argument with New Jersey Devils head coach Travis Green after the Devils and New York Rangers opened the game with a line brawl.
Laviolette coached the Flyers from 2009 to 2014.
There haven't been many line brawls in recent NHL history, but one involving John Tortorella comes to mind. In 2014 the Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks got into a line brawl that had Tortorella heated.

The fight tonight was caused by the actions of New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe in the two prior games he played against the Devils this season. The Flyers and Rempe have a history as well.
Each team had four players ejected from the brawl, causing the coaches to work harder as they only had ten forwards and four defensemen available from the 0:02 mark of the first period.
