Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports - REPORT: Flyers' Danny Briere Views Konecny Extension As Important

According to Pierre LeBrun from The Athletic, Philadelphia Flyers GM Danny Briere views getting Travis Konecny a contract extension as important.

"One thing is, we're not going to negotiate through the media, and we agreed with his group that we wouldn't do that," Briere told LeBrun. "The one thing I can tell you is that we love him. We love him as a player. He knows that. His agency knows that. He's an important part of our team."

There have been reports of the forward wanting at least $10 million a year, but nothing has been officially reported. Briere's words back up the fact that what is being reported may not be accurate. He also never denied it.

The alternate captain has scored over 30 goals in the last two seasons. He will become a UFA at the end of the 2024-25 season, but reports say that he should get an extension before the start of the season.

"And we hope that we have Travis Konecny with the Flyers for a very long time. But we'll see what happens in the future with that," Briere said to LeBrun.

Should Konecny sign an extension, he will be 28 during the first year. The contract term could be just as much of a question as his cap hit.
