According to Pavel Lysenkov of Match.tv in Russia, KHL team AK Bars is reportedly interested in signing former Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart. Elliotte Friedman has shut down the report.
There are a lot of questions surrounding the situation, especially the source reporting it, given the lack of trust due to locations.
Although this is a rumor/report, that has since been deemed false, here are the details of Lysenkov's report.
"All five will most likely continue their careers in Russia, because they won't even be accepted into European leagues. Ak Bars is the most active contender, they need Hart. Kazan would take the rest, but the limit of three foreign players interferes. The main point now is that hockey players must obtain judicial permission that they can leave North America. In this case, Hart will be able to sign a contract with Ak Bars, which needs a top goalkeeper. In terms of potential, this goalkeeper has a talent on the level of Ilya Sorokin," a source close to the situation told Match TV."
It is important to note that Lysenkov writes that Hart must obtain judicial permission from Canada to leave North America.
Another important note for Hart is an RFA after this season, and they likely won't play in the NHL for the foreseeable future.
Once again, rumors will swirl about the other players involved in the 2018 Hockey Canada scandal, but make sure they are properly sourced.
