Macklin Celebrini made his much-anticipated first appearance in a preseason game against the Vegas Golden Knights last Sunday and had a goal and assist.
Smith and Celebrini project to be the Sharks' top two centers in the future. Smith's offensive potential could be slightly higher than Celebrini's during the regular season, as he could start a little further down the lineup and have more advantageous matchups.
The Sharks are hosting the Anaheim Ducks at 7 p.m. PST. San Jose lost its first preseason game 4-2 to the Vegas Golden Knights.
