Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat scored three points, and the New York Islanders won their fifth game in a row, beating the San Jose Sharks 7-2 on Thursday night.

San Jose got goals from Thomas Bordeleau and Mike Hoffman. Magnus Chrona couldn't bail them out again tonight, and he made 25 saves.

Brock Nelson had three assists, and Bo Horvat had a goal and two assists. Noah Dobson, Mathew Barzal, Sebastian Aho, Anders Lee, Kyle MacLean, and Alexander Romanov all scored for the Islanders. Ilya Sorokin won his 22nd game of the season and made 23 saves.

There was an evident deflation from the Sharks tonight as Anthony Duclair was traded just minutes before the game began. Thomas Bordeleau was solid offensively in his return but struggled on defense. A bad read on the backcheck led to the Islanders' sixth goal.

"Sorry to see him go. He was just playing his best hockey here over the last five, six weeks. He's been a great guy to coach," Sharks coach David Quinn said about Duclair. "Just really brings an awful lot of energy to our locker room. Obviously very productive player offensively. Sad to see him go but happy for him. He's getting an opportunity to play for a playoff team and can contend for a Stanley Cup. I can't say enough good things about him, but I'm happy for him."

Alexander Barabanov was a healthy scratch for trade-related reasons. The trade deadline is tomorrow at noon.

"After I get done with [the media this morning], it wasn't shortly thereafter that Mike and I talked. A couple of things happened, and that was his decision," Quinn said about Barabanov being scratched.

Noah Dobson tried to pass the puck across the ice, but a defender blocked it into his net. This was Dobson's 8th goal of the season.

Chrona has rebounded from the flukey start well. He even stopped a breakaway from Kyle Palmieri.

Alexander Romanov scores his 7th goal of the season on a blast from the point.

Thomas Bordeleau gets his 2nd goal of the season on the powerplay as he directed the puck past the goalie with his leg.

Bo Horvat scores his 25th goal of the season on a shot from in close.

25 seconds after Horvat gave the Isles the 3-1 lead, Mike Hoffman scores his 10th goal of the season to make it 3-2.

Kyle MacLean scores his 3rd goal of the season. This capped off a span of three goals in 40 seconds between the two teams.

Mathew Barzal scores his 20th goal of the season to give the Islanders a three-goal lead.

Sebastian Aho scores his 2nd goal of the season off the rush. Bordeleau looked like he was in a decent position to pick up the eventual goal scorer but never went to cover him.

Anders Lee scores his 17th goal of the season, bouncing the puck off a Sharks defender in front.
