With Anthony Duclair being held out of the San Jose Sharks lineup tonight for trade-related reasons, it begs the question of what team could use him in a trade.
Many teams are interested in Duclair. The Fourth Period reports that the Edmonton Oilers, Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers, and Winnipeg Jets are interested in Duclair.
A team that isn't listed but could acquire Duclair is the Carolina Hurricanes. While there haven't been any reports of the Hurricanes being interested, Duclair fits their style of play.
The Canes are reportedly interested in Pittsburgh Penguins winger Jake Guentzel, but if that deal can't come to fruition, Duclair would be a perfect pivot.
From a Sharks perspective, the Hurricanes have three picks in the first two rounds of the 2024 NHL Draft and a somewhat deep prospect pool. Although Duclair won't get a haul like Guetnzel will, he has found his scoring touch as of late.
A reunion with the Panthers might not be off the table, but they acquired Vladimir Tarasenko. The New York Rangers could also look for a Duclair reunion, especially if they miss out on Guentzel, who they are reportedly very interested in.
The New York Islanders are in town tonight and could be a dark horse candidate to make a run at Duclair.
Lastly, a trade with the Vancouver Canucks could be an option, especially since they look to be missing Jake Guentzel.
The deadline is tomorrow at noon, and a trade involving Duclair is not expected tonight, but anything can happen.
