Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports - Stat Pack: The San Jose Sharks Bring Success To February 29th

With such a rare day in history, the San Jose Sharks have made today, February 29th, successful.

San Jose is 4-1 all-time on Leap Year Day and carries a four-game winning streak into tonight's game against the Anaheim Ducks.

Former Sharks' defenseman Brent Burns leads all active NHL players with five points in four career games on February 29th. Wayne Gretzky is the NHL leader in all-time points on Leap Year Day with eight.

Joe Thornton sits tied for 4th with six points on the rare day.

On this day in 2020, the Sharks demolished the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0 behind a 30-save shutout from goalie Martin Jones, who is now on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jones ranks second all-time with two wins on February 29th, one behind former Penguins netminder Al Smith.

The Sharks have the 7th most wins all-time on today's date. The Maple Leafs have won nine times across 13 games on Leap Year Day. Only the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators are undefeated on this date.

If the Sharks get a big individual performance tonight, it could break some NHL records, for February 29th, that is.
