Robert Edwards-USA TODAY Sports - BREAKING: Avalanche Sign Jacob MacDonald

Former San Jose Sharks forward/defenseman Jacob MacDonald has signed a two-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.

MacDonald spent two seasons in the Sharks organization, played 59 games, and scored eight goals and seven assists.

The defenseman was tested as a forward throughout his time with the Sharks. He handled the adjustment well but is a natural defenseman. MacDonald dealt with injuries last season and was also waived late in the year to open space for younger players.
