The San Jose Sharks have re-acquired Barclay Goodrow by claiming him off waivers from the New York Rangers.
After being waived for cap relief, there was a belief that there was a pre-arranged deal between both teams for Goodrow to be claimed by the Sharks.
San Jose is where Goodrow started his career and is now one of the veterans of a young team. The fourth liner has a cap hit of $3,641,667 for another three seasons. He also has a 15-team no-trade list on his contract.
The Rangers lose an alternate captain but have gained valuable cap space.
San Jose has gained two depth forwards, Goodrow and Ty Dellandrea, all within a short period. Moves like these will help Sharks GM Mike Grier reach the salary cap floor and boost competitive play on the ice.
