According to Mollie Walker of the New York Post, there is a belief that the San Jose Sharks have a pre-arranged deal to claim Barclay Goodrow after the New York Rangers placed him on waivers.

"Though there is belief there is a pre-arranged deal for the Sharks to claim Goodrow, who spent the first six seasons of his NHL career in San Jose," Walker writes.

The Rangers are looking to gain some salary cap relief by waiving the former Stanley Cup Champion. The fourth liner has a cap hit of $3,641,667 for another three seasons. He also has a 15-team no-trade list on his contract.

Walker does suggest that teams would rather wait for the Rangers to buy out Goodrow before signing him to a cheaper deal. The Sharks currently have a projected cap hit of $51,629,167 and need to reach $65 million to be at the cap floor.

If the Sharks don't claim Goodrow, the Rangers will have between 48 hours following the end of the Stanley Cup Final and June 30th to cut the 31-year-old.
