The San Jose Sharks have announced that they have signed top prospect Will Smith to an entry-level contract.
Smith will be making the jump from Boston College to the NHL. After one season, he has foregone his NCAA eligibility.
"Will is a dynamic and exciting young center and we are thrilled to have him join the organization after an impressive season with Boston College," Sharks GM Mike Grier said in a release. "We felt that this is the next best step for his development to becoming a full-time NHL player, and we are looking forward to seeing him compete at the highest level of hockey."
Smith scored 71 points in 41 games during his freshman season.
The fourth-overall pick will likely join forces with Macklin Celebrini, the projected No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft.
