Per Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, San Jose Sharks top prospect Will Smith is expected to sign his entry-level contract this summer. 

While nothing has been confirmed, GM Mike Grier has said that he feels Smith is ready to play pro hockey.

"I think he's ready for the NHL. He's got the brain. He's got the talent. He's already maturing physically, and so from my standpoint, I think he can he can play in the league," Grier said during his exit interview. "Like I said, we'll continue to have discussions and try to make the best decision for him."

Smith had 71 points (25 goals, 46 assists) in 41 games for Boston College last season. The Sharks are expected to select Boston University's Macklin Celebrini first overall at the 2024 NHL Draft.
