Legendary San Jose Sharks broadcaster Dan Rusanowsky received the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Rusanowsky has been calling games for the Sharks since they were introduced. He now becomes the first San Jose Sharks organization member to have a spot in the Hall of Fame.
Some former Sharks have been inducted, but when they were elected, they are not remembered for their time in San Jose.
Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News spoke to Rusanowsky about his journey to the Hockey Hall of Fame.
"I'm representing the San Jose Sharks organization," Rusanowsky told Pashelka. "What should never be lost on anyone is who you've worked with and the experiences that have occurred for all of those 33 years. That's really, really special for me."
Rusy's legacy with Sharks fans will forever live, but now his legacy extends to unthinkable levels. His entry into hockey immortality will give him a spot within NHL history that few have reached.
Today, Rusanowsky accepted his award with a luncheon at the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The 62-year-old shows no signs of slowing down and will forever be associated with the San Jose Sharks. All that's missing is a Stanley Cup Ring.
As someone who has lived in the San Jose area for their entire life, listening to Rusanowsky call games has become second nature.
This is my first year covering the San Jose Sharks full-time, and now I get to see Rusy in a different light. From listener to now colleague, I know nobody deserves this moment more than Dan.
His enshrinement into Hockey History is at long last here. I think I can speak for many Sharks fans when I say thank you for all you've brought to the San Jose Sharks, and congratulations!
