San Jose Sharks GM Mike Grier held his pre-draft availability and shed light on his plan for the No. 14 pick at the 2024 NHL Draft.

The Sharks own the No. 1 and 14 picks in the first round of this year's draft. Macklin Celebrini is going No. 1, but many questions surround what will happen 13 picks later.

Grier says the Sharks will likely take the best player available at 14, which could be many scenarios. With a seemingly deep prospect pool at forward, there is speculation that Grier would look to add a defenseman.

Flo Hockey released their final 2024 NHL Draft rankings and have Cole Eiserman ranked No. 14, a forward.

Eiserman started the 2023-24 season close to Celebrini at the top of the rankings but slid down as the year went on. He is arguably this draft's best pure goalscorer. Other than that, there are question marks about his game.

Grier also told the media that he is "open-minded" about trading up or down from No. 14.

"It's always hard to move up. I think we'll explore both options. We will explore trying to move up if the price isn't too high. Then we're also open to trading back and getting more assets if that makes sense," Grier explained. "We're open-minded at 14. Knowing the draft this year, it is kind of all over the map. I don't think anyone's really sure how it's going to go. If there is a player there that we really like at 14, we'll take him. Maybe if there's a player that's sliding down the board, [we'll] move up and to try and get him. Or if we feel like there's a big pocket of players that we like, maybe we'll slide down and get some more assets."

Round one of the draft will start Friday at 4 p.m. PT.
