The San Jose Sharks and Calen Addison seemed confused about why the defenseman was given a ten-minute misconduct against the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday.
Addison was penalized with 8:09 left to play in the first period, effectively ending his game.
"Just kind of got into a battle with the guy, kind of exchanged words back and forth, nothing crazy, the heat of the moment game," Addison told media members today. "[Quinn and I] talked about it, addressed it and that's really all I got to say."

"Listen, you want to make sure you're fair with your players. Just because someone gets penalized doesn't mean you totally react to it," Quinn said. "We all make mistakes and gotta make sure the call was right. There was a reasonable explanation for it."
Based on the video, it looks like Coyotes' forward Logan Cooley was skating toward Addison after the play had ended, but there isn't a look that can confirm who Addison was chirping with.
Quinn said it was put to bed but clarified what happened.
"Normal banter between another player," Quinn said. "Initially, I was pissed, right? There might have been deeper consequences, but everybody's chirping out there."
Addison had been tossed out of the Sharks' previous game for abuse of an official, which Quinn clarified was confirmed when he smashed his stick on the glass out of frustration from a penalty call.
"Just kind of got mad and that's really it. I don't really know, to be honest," Addison said about the first ejection.
"I'll let Mike [Grier] handle that," Quinn said about checking with the league about what happened.
Quinn confirmed that Addison never said anything directly to the referee.
"Just like any other battle," Addison explained. "He said some things that I didn't like and so I just went up to him. Just said a couple of things. Just asked what was up and that was it."
The league didn't give Addison any supplemental discipline regarding either ejection or misconduct, adding more confusion to an already strange situation.
