Today is the trade deadline, and more trades for the San Jose Sharks could be on the horizon.

John Hefti-USA TODAY Sports - Which Sharks Could Be On the Move On Deadline Day?

Today is the trade deadline, and more trades for the San Jose Sharks could be on the horizon.

    1. Alexander Barabanov

Alexander Barabanov sat out last night's game against the New York Islanders for trade-related reasons. Based on head coach David Quinn's postgame answer, it sounded like GM Mike Grier had made some progress on a possible trade.

"After I get done with [the media this morning], it wasn't shortly after that that Mike and I talked. A couple of things happened, and that was his decision," Quinn said postgame about Barabanov being scratched.

    2. Kaapo Kahkonen

Kaapo Kahkonen has had trade rumors surround him all season, but the goaltender has played a solid game.

Although Quinn denied it, there is a thought that Quinn started Magnus Chrona yesterday to protect Kahkonen.

"Competing. Are you going to mail it in, or are you going to hang in there and nut up and finish the job," Quinn said about what he was looking for from Chrona in the third period.

    3. Mikael Granlund

Mikael Granlund is an interesting case to be traded today. He can play center or wing for a playoff-bound team. He has returned to his offensive ways since being acquired by the Sharks.

The hold-up with Granlund is that he has one more year on his contract with an AAV of $5 million. The Sharks only have one salary retention spot remaining and likely will need to use that for another asset that ends after this season.

The Sharks are content with keeping Granlund around. He is thought of highly throughout the organization.

    4. Kevin Labanc

Kevin Labanc requested a fresh start a while ago, but it's hard to trade him because his value is at an all-time low. Yes, the statistics are one reason it is low, but other teams can't see him because he is rarely in the lineup.

Labanc's $4.725 million AAV salary is another reason he will be hard to move. If the Sharks can trade Labanc, they will be using their final salary retention spot.

    5. Mike Hoffman

Mike Hoffman was brought in as a cap dump by the Montreal Canadiens. The 34-year-olds best days are behind him. He has ten goals this season and went 28 games without a goal.

Hoffman could still provide depth scoring for a playoff team and maybe even be a good one-timer option on a second powerplay unit. His shot still hasn't left him, but getting to the right shooting areas on the ice has become more challenging.

Like Labanc, the Sharks will likely need to eat some of his $4.5 million cap hit.

The trade deadline is at noon.
