This former Lightning draft pick set a new KHL record.
Back in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Tampa Bay Lightning selected forward Nikita Gusev as the 202nd overall pick. The Russian forward never appeared in a game for the Bolts, however, as the club traded his rights along with picks to the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft so that Vegas would select defenseman Jason Garrison.
Gusev, 31, never appeared in a game for the Golden Knights, either, as he was dealt to the New Jersey Devils in July of 2019. He went on to play 97 NHL games over two seasons split between the Devils and Florida Panthers from there, posting 17 goals and 54 points. Then, he went back to the KHL.

Now, fast forward to 2023-24, Gusev has made history with HC Dynamo Moscow. The skilled winger secured his 86th point of the campaign, breaking Sergei Mozyakin's record for most points in a KHL season. He achieved this feat in 67 games (23 goals and 63 assists).
Gusev has had quite a remarkable KHL career, too, as he has 215 goals and 598 points in 622 career games.
