The Lightning need more from this veteran forward.

During the 2023 NHL Offseason, the Tampa Bay Lightning signed Conor Sheary to a three-year, $6 million contract. At the time, it was a move that was well received, as Sheary was coming off a solid 2022-23 season with the Washington Capitals. With that, he also had a 43-point campaign in 71 games for the club in 2021-22.

Fast-forward to today, and it's fair to say that the Massachusetts native has had some trouble in his first year with the Bolts. His offensive production has dropped noticeably, posting just four goals, 11 assists, and a minus-5 rating in 55 games. Along with that, he has been subjected to multiple healthy scratches because of his struggles down the stretch.

With the playoffs being right around the corner, the Lightning need Sheary to find his previous form. When playing at his best, he is an impactful third-line forward who contributes offensively and plays well defensively. If he can get back to that form, it would make the Lightning even more challenging to go up against.

Sheary, 31, certainly has the potential to provide value for the Bolts during the playoffs. He has a lot of postseason experience, sporting two Stanley Cups on his resume. Let's see if the postseason gives him the spark he needs to get things back on track.
