While some eyes are fixated on the Tampa Bay Lightning of today, others are watching the Bolts of the future. The Tampa Bay AHL affiliate Syracuse Crunch began their season with an early record of 7-6-1. They are currently in sixth place in the North Division with 16 points. Despite their humble record, they have received very impressive play from some of their young talent in the early goings of the season. Dylan Duke has turned heads in the first few weeks of the AHL season. Through the first 14 games, Duke has tallied five goals and nine points.

Duke previously played for three years at the University of Michigan, where he helped the Wolverines to three NCAA Tournament appearances and the Frozen Four. During his 122 games with the school, Duke had 53 goals and 98 points. Before his time with Michigan, Duke played with the United States National Developmental Team Program and was eventually drafted by the Lightning in the fourth round of the 2021 NHL Draft.

Duke hopes to continue building upon his impressive start to his season in Syracuse while waiting for a call-up to the NHL level. His front-net presence ability and smooth puck-handling skills could help him receive a recall in the near future. The Lightning could use his skill set in their bottom six.
