Nikita Kucherov made Lightning history against the Devils.
Tampa Bay Lightning superstar forward Nikita Kucherov is having a truly remarkable season. He currently leads all NHL skaters in points, and now, he made team history during the club's contest against the New Jersey Devils.
With his assist on Brayden Point's second-period goal, Kucherov recorded his 100th point of the season. It only took Kucherov 59 games to reach this milestone, and that is now the fewest games required in Lightning history. He beat his previous record from 2018-19 when it took him just 62 games to get his 100th point of the season.
Kucherov, 30, is only building his case to win the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player for the 2023-24 campaign even further. He is playing the best hockey of his career, and this outstanding new team record reflects that.
Kucherov now has 37 goals and 63 assists on the season. It will be fun to see how many points he hits by the end of the campaign, as he's been simply dynamite.
