The Abbotsford Canucks and Colorado Eagles will now play a winner take all Game 3 on Sunday afternoon.
Despite coming back from a 4-1 deficit, the Abbotsford Canucks fell 5-4 in overtime against the Colorado Eagles. The Game 2 loss means the series will go to a Game 3, with the winner advancing to the second round of the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs. Zach Sawchenko was once again strong in net, making 24 saves, while Aatu Räty led the way offensively with a goal and an assist.
After going down 2-0 in the first, Räty got the Canucks on the board with his first of the playoffs. The Eagles would score two more before the midway mark of the second before Abbotsford mounted a furious comeback. The Canucks got goals from Christian Wolanin and Linus Karlsson in the second before Akito Hirose tied the game midway through the third. Unfortunately, Chris Wagner would find the back of the net in overtime as Colorado found a way to stay alive and tie the series.
Game three is currently scheduled for Sunday at 2:05 pm PT. The winner of the series will face off against the winner of the Ontario Reign vs Bakersfield Condors series, which could be decided on Saturday night. If Ontario wins, they will have home ice advantage, while if Bakersfield pulls off the upset, either Abbotsford or the Eagles will host Game 1.
