Monday night could be a memorable one for Brock Boeser as the Vancouver Canucks (47-22-8) take on the Vegas Golden Knights (42-26-8) for the final time in the regular season. Boeser is currently sitting on 39 goals and will have the opportunity to become just the tenth player in franchise history to score 40 goals in a season. With a victory, Vancouver would also record their 26th home win of the season, which would tie the 2006-07 team for the fifth most in franchise history.
After a 6-3 loss to Vegas last week, the Canucks should be motivated heading into this game. They haven't beaten a playoff-bound team in just under a month and are now in danger of the Edmonton Oilers catching them in the race for the Pacific Division crown. In another measuring stick game, Vancouver will need to make the most of their opportunities and have a strong special teams night if they want to end the night with a win.
Players to Watch
Brock Boeser
As mentioned, this could be a special game for Boeser as he enters one goal off 40 on the campaign. The Canucks winger has scored in two of his last four games and should get plenty of opportunities at both even strength and on the power play. If he can replicate the five-shot performance he had against the L.A. Kings on Saturday, he should have no issues lighting the lamp for the 40th time this season.
Tomáš Hertl
All signs point to Tomáš Hertl making his Golden Knights debut against Vancouver. Hertl, who was acquired from San Jose at the deadline, hasn't played since Jan. 27 but has a history of producing against the Canucks with 35 points in 42 career games. While it may take him some time to adjust, he is still dangerous and could play a significant role in this game.
