According to Elliotte Friedman on Saturday's headlines, the Vancouver Canucks are taking their time getting starting goalie Thatcher Demko back into the lineup.
"Demko can come off the LTIR as of now. He was eligible today," Friedman said. "The Canucks know, as Lou Lamoriello says, 'when you have time, you use it.' They have time. They will use it. Wouldn't surprised if we don't see him in another game for at least another week."
Demko hasn't played in nearly a month. His last game was March 9th against the Winnipeg Jets, where he made 12 saves before leaving the game in the second period.
The Canucks have gone 5-5-1 with him out of the lineup. Casey DeSmith has taken on the load as the team's starting goalie but has struggled. In his last five games, DeSmith is 1-4-0 with a 3.88 GAA and a .859 save %.
With a playoff spot already clinched and a small gap from the Edmonton Oilers for first in the Pacific Division, Vancouver is taking their time with their All-Star goalie, which should help come playoff time.
