Vancouver Canucks prospect Josh Bloom scored the winner in Saginaw's 5-4 win over Moose Jaw.

Josh Bloom opened the 2024 Memorial Cup in style, scoring the game-winner in the Saginaw Spirit's 5-4 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors. The goal was historic as Bloom became the first Saginaw player to ever score a game-winning goal at the Memorial Cup. With the victory, Saginaw moves to 1-0 at this year's tournament and, more importantly, sends the fans home happy on opening night.

Bloom was a difference-maker all night. He finished the night with four dangerous shots, which were tied for the team lead and played a significant role in the penalty kill. Overall, Bloom, who was acquired by the Vancouver Canucks in 2023, was a difference-maker for the Spirit and played a significant role in their win against the Warriors.

Saginaw is back in action on Sunday, May 26, when they take on the Drummondville Voltigeurs. The Drummondville are the QMJHL representatives this season, and with a win, Bloom and his teammates would guarantee a spot in the semi-final. Game time is set for 4:30 pm PT and can be viewed on TSN.
