Rick Tocchet has been named the winner of the 2024 Jack Adams Award. Despite some tough competition from Rick Bowness of the Winnipeg Jets and Andrew Brunette of the Nashville Predators, the NHL Broadcasters Association voted Tocchet as the NHL's best coach for the 2023-24 season. With the win, Tocchet joins Pat Quinn and Alain Vigneault as the only other coaches in Vancouver Canucks history to win the award.

This season, Tocchet helped lead the Canucks to their third most successful regular season in franchise history. Vancouver's point total rose by 26 compared to the 2022-23 season as the Canucks captured their first Pacific Division title in franchise history. Under Tocchet's leadership, multiple players produced career high in points, including Quinn Hughes, who is the favourite to take home this year’s Norris Trophy.

As for the final voting, Tocchet collected 82 first-place votes and finished with a total of 483 votes. Brunette finished in second place with 145, while Bowness received 75 votes. In a statement, Jim Rutherford, President of Hockey Operations, wrote, “Rick has done a great job bringing alignment and accountability to our group. From day one, he has delivered a clear message about how we want to play and what it means to be a member of the Vancouver Canucks. His leadership has really helped us take a step forward this season, and I look forward to seeing more progress next year.”
