The Kalamazoo Wings will be going for their second Guinness World Record this season.
The Kalamazoo Wings have had a busy week. After announcing a two-year affiliation extension with the Vancouver Canucks, the ECHL club announced their intentions to set a Guinness World Record at this year's home opener. This would be the second Guinness World Record the Wings would own after setting the record for the largest lightsaber battle, which consisted of 3,889 people and was set in 2019.

Kalamazoo will be trying to break the record for most people waving foam fingers simultaneously. Deleware State University currently holds the record, which was set in 2019 when 1,709 people gathered to wave foam fingers simultaneously. The Wings Event Center can hold upwards of 5,000 people, so breaking the record should be no problem.
Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the Wings will open their season at home on October 19 versus the Cincinnati Cyclones. Last season, Kalamazoo finished fourth in the Central Division but was swept in the first round. The Wings and Canucks have been affiliated on four separate occasions, also partnering from 1984 to 1987, 2011 to 2015, 2017 to 2021 and 2023 to the present.
