Vancouver Canucks forward Vasily Podkolzin is projected to make his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in game five against the Edmonton Oilers.
Podkolzin was on the fourth line at morning skate with Nils Åman in the middle and Phil Di Giuseppe on the left wing. Podkolzin is now the third player in the last three games to make their Stanley Cup Playoff debut.
Podkolzin brings a hard-forechecking game that the Canucks need against a speedy Oilers team. Although he was a high draft pick, his offensive skills haven't entirely translated to the NHL. In 19 games this season, he had two assists. He had 28 points in 44 games in the AHL.
Head coach Rick Tocchet continues experimenting with his lineup, trying to unlock his team's potential. Game five is crucial, as the team that wins tonight's game will be one win away from the Western Conference Final.
