Vancouver Canucks prospect Tom Willander won Silver with Team Sweden at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Team Sweden has announced their roster for the upcoming 2024 World Junior Summer Showcase. Among the players selected is Vancouver Canucks 2023 first-rounder Tom Willander who was part of the Silver Medal-winning team in January. While inclusion on the summer roster does not guarantee a spot in the tournament, it is a good indicator of which players are being considered for the World Juniors team. The event will take place from July 26 to August 3 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, and will include teams from the U.S., Canada, Finland, and Sweden.

Willander, who is getting ready to play his second season for the Boston University Terriers in the NCAA, is expected to play a significant role for Sweden at the 2025 World Juniors. Willander finished the 2024 tournament with a goal and three points in seven games while averaging over 19 minutes a game. The 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship will take place from December 26 through January 5 in Ottawa, Ontario, at the Canadian Tire Centre and TD Place Arena.
