The former Vancouver Canucks goaltender is one win away from having his name etched on the Stanely Cup.

June 15, 2011, is a day that will live on in infamy for Vancouver Canucks fans. Not only did the Canucks drop Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final at home to the Boston Bruins, but the riot that followed remains a black eye in the city's history. Fast forward 13 years to the day, and one of the central figures from that game has a chance to hoist the historic trophy and forever be known as a Stanley Cup champion.
The Florida Panthers have a chance to make history on Saturday night as, with a win, they would sweep the Edmonton Oilers and capture their first Stanley Cup. If the Panthers are victorious, it would mean Roberto Luongo would finally get to raise the Stanley Cup. While he is no longer a player, Luongo is part of Florida's management team as a special advisor to the GM and, therefore, receives a ring if the Panthers win the Cup.
Luongo's career has been nothing short of spectacular. He has won Gold for Canada at the World Championship and Olympics but the Stanley Cup has always been just beyond his grasp. Luongo also remains the all-time franchise wins leader for both Vancouver and Florida while sitting fourth in NHL history with 489 victories. A Hockey Hall of Fame member, all that is left is the Stanley Cup to complete one of the most outstanding goaltender resumes of the 21st century.
While the Canucks are not in the Final, a win by the Panthers would be memorable for fans of the organization. Luongo remains a franchise icon and a fan favourite to this day. While he may not have been able to bring a championship to Vancouver, watching Luo lift the Cup should be a euphoric moment for Canucks fans around the world.
