In his first season as captain, Quinn Hughes has won the Daniel & Henrik Sedin Award. The award is given to one player who best exemplifies outstanding community leadership qualities and humanitarian contributions to his community. Hughes joins Brock Boeser, Brandon Sutter, Tyler Motte, and Alex Edler, who are the only players to take home this award.
This year, Hughes created Team 43, which donated four tickets to every home game to first responders in B.C. Prior to the start of the season, Hughes visited the West Kelowna Fire Department and spoke to those protecting West Kelowna from the blaze that forced thousands from their homes. The Canucks also launched limited edition Team 43 merchandise earlier this season, with 100% of the proceeds supporting the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.
