According to Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks are having trouble finding a deal to acquire Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas.

According to Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks are having trouble finding a deal to acquire Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas.

Filip Hronek's name has been thrown around during trade rumors due to his RFA status.

Elias Pettersson's name was thrown around in trade rumors earlier in the season due to the lack of extension. Friedman reported that the Hurricanes and Canucks almost completed a deal involving Necas and Pettersson.

"When they were talking Pettersson, and Pettersson says he doesn't believe that was ever going to happen, but when they were talking about it, both of those guys were in that deal," Friedman said on Donnie and Dhali. "I think it is a harder deal to do now that Pettersson is not going to be dealt."

Friedman goes on to say that the Hurricanes are likely looking at the Canucks top prospects.

The price to acquire 25-year-old Martin Necas is high, and rightfully so. The former first-round pick has been productive in the NHL, with a career-high of 71 points set in the 2022-23 season.

The silly season of Summertime rumors seems to be in full swing.
