Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev has been deemed a game-time decision for the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers game five.
Former Vancouver Canucks defenseman Chris Tanev has been deemed a game-time decision for the Dallas Stars and Edmonton Oilers game five.
Tanev is one of the best shut-down d-men in the NHL, and if the Stars are without him, it would be considered a huge loss. During the series, Tanev has been tasked with shutting down Oilers superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. In game four, Tanev blocked a shot off his foot and did not return to the game.
The 34-year-old was seen in a walking boot at the airport the next day.
Stars head coach Pete DeBoer said he is "optimistic" that the blueliner will play tonight but officially ruled him a game-time decision.
Tanev has been seen in walking boots throughout his career, especially during his time with Vancouver. The rugged d-man is still seen as one of the toughest players in the league, and if he is to play through whatever injury tonight, it wouldn't surprise anyone throughout the NHL.
