Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports - Ryan Whitney Goes On All-Time Rant At Canucks Fans

Former Edmonton Oilers defenseman and host of the Spittin' Chiclets podcast went on a crazy rant directed at the Vancouver Canucks and their fans.

The Canucks and Oilers rivalry is in full swing, with their second-round series set to kick off tonight. Whitney is known for his opinions throughout the NHL on his podcast, but clearly, this rivalry has brought out even stronger feelings against the Canucks.

Whitney played for the Oilers from 2010 to 2013, but they weren't all that successful. They didn't make the postseason a single year during his time in Edmonton, while the Cancuks made a run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2011.

During that 2010-11 season, the Cancuks won the Presidents Trophy as the NHL's best team, while the Oilers came in dead last in the entire league.

Another reason why Whitney might dislike the Canucks is because of the 2010 Olympics. Whitney was part of Team USA and lost to Sidney Crosby's golden goal.

Whitney even references the fact that the Canucks went 4-0 in the regular season against the Oilers. He points out that the playoffs are different, but the Canucks will still be confident knowing they can beat the Oilers.

As this series progresses, expect both fan bases to go at each other on social media. This series could be one of the most exciting series of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
