Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet shut down the idea of using the famed 'Lotto Line' full-time.
After the frustrations of last night's three-goal debacle, reporters asked Tocchet if loading up the top line with J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson, and Brock Boeser is needed.
"I tried it a couple of times. [It] didn't work. I'm looking for each individual to play better. I'm not saying those guys, in general. It works once in a while, but we've played this way, and it's worked."
There have been bursts of success for the trio, but overall the line hasn't meshed, and spreading out the talent across the rest of the lineup has been more beneficial for the Canucks. They are in first place in the Western Conference.
"We got pushed back by Colorado. I don't think I got to start loading teeth. Once in a while, yeah, but that's not the same thing. That's not the secret sauce. No, I don't believe that," Tocchet said. "Good question, though. I put those guys together once in a while, but we got enough people here to turn to turn the tide."
The Canucks will look to rebound against the Washington Capitals on Saturday.
