Nils Höglander, Elias Lindholm, and Elias Pettersson have shown that they have chemistry in their brief time together this season.

The Vancouver Canucks are changing up their lines heading into Game 5, with Rick Tocchet putting together an all-Swede line of Nils Höglander, Elias Lindholm and Elias Pettersson. While the trio has played limited minutes together, the three Swedish forwards showed they have some chemistry as proven by their strong analytics. With Pettersson struggling all series, the hope is playing him next to a more offensively-minded player in Lindholm as well as Höglander, will kick-start the Canucks superstar and lead to him having a significant impact against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 5.
According to Natural Stat Trick, the trio of Höglander, Lindholm and Pettersson played 57:46 together. During that time, they outscored their opponents five to two while holding an xGF% of 51.18. The trio also won the scoring chances battle by a count of 32-24 while posting a PDO of 1.065. Overall, the line was able to control possession while on the ice while also proving to be strong defensively, limiting the opposition to 23 shots on goal and winning the Corsi battle 70-45.
Based on morning skate rushes, it looks as though Lindholm will center the line while Pettersson will be moved to the wing. While Pettersson is an elite center, moving him out of the middle of the ice may be precisely what the doctor ordered. When playing center, there is a lot more defensive responsibility, which adds a level of complexity to the position. Even though Pettersson is more than capable of playing down the middle, letting him focus on the offensive side of his game by playing on the wing may help build his confidence and hopefully release his game-breaking ability for the rest of the postseason.
Ultimately, this is a smart move by Tocchet, even if it means moving Lindholm away from Conor Garland and Dakota Joshua. The good news, however, is that Garland and Joshua have shown they have chemistry with Teddy Blueger, meaning the change should not cause issues for the third line. If Vancouver is going to win this series, they need Pettersson to get going. Unfortunately, the "Lotto Line" hasn't worked this postseason, so putting Pettersson with Höglander and Lindholm looks like the best option at this point. If the trio can win their matchup and generate chances as they did during the regular season, it should provide a significant boost to Vancouver's lineup in Game 5.
