The American Hockey League announced today the individual team winners of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year awards, selected by their respective clubs for their outstanding contributions to the local community and charitable organizations during the 2023-24 season. From this list of finalists, representatives from IOA/American Specialty and the AHL will choose the winner of the 2023-24 Yanick Dupré Memorial Award.
Mayo has played in 64 games this season with the Silver Knights scoring five goals and 22 points.
The 27-year-old was drafted in the fifth round back in the NHL draft by the Arizona Coyotes. He played in 67 games for the Coyotes in the 2021-22 season and 15 in the 2022-23 season but has yet to get called up since then.
The defenseman has four goals and 12 points in his NHL career. The Golden Knights acquired Mayo last year for a fifth-round pick and Shea Weber's contract.
Mayo was recalled by the Golden Knights on Jan. 1 but wasn't able to get into any games. He's signed for $950,000 through the 2024-25 season.
