The first round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs wrapped up on Sunday as both the Kelowna Rockets and Everett Silvertips clinched their series. The WHL also released the schedule for the second round, with all four series set to start on Friday, Apr. 1. Here is a review of the two games from Apr. 7
Kelowna Rockets 4, Wenatchee Wild 2
Series: Kelowna Wins 4-2
For the first time since 2017, the Rockets are headed to the second round thanks to their 4-2 victory over the Wenatchee Wild. The Rockets got standout performances from Andrew Cristall, who had two goals and an assist, as well as Tij Iginla, who had a goal and an assist. In net, Jari Kykkanen was once again phenomenal, stopping 34 of the 36 shots he faced. Up next for the Rockets will be a battle with the Prince George Cougars, which kicks off Friday from the CN Centre.

Everett Silvertips 5, Vancouver Giants 0
Series: Everett Wins 4-1
Parker Berge's power play goal in the first served as the series winner in Everett's 5-0 win over the Vancouver Giants. Julius Miettinen and Ben Hemmerling each had a goal and an assist, while Tyler Palmer stopped all 25 shots he faced for his second career playoff shutout. With the victory, the Silvertips will now face the Portland Winterhawks in the second round, with their series starting Friday from the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
