Edge defeated Northern Alberta Xtreme 3-2 in overtime to take home the championship.

Red Deer Rebels prospect Luke Vlooswyk was the hero in overtime as Edge defeated Northern Alberta Xtreme 3-2 in the CSSHL's U18 Prep Western Championship. This is the second consecutive year and ninth time Edge has won the U18 Championship since 2010. 13 of Edge's players have already been drafted into the WHL, including Tri-City Americans Cruz Pavao, who had a goal and two assists in the final.

One player who stole the spotlight was 14-year-old defenceman Landon Dupont. The projected first-overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, Dupont led the tournament with 16 points in five games. Listed at 5'11", 170 pounds, he finished tied for third during the regular season with 62 points in 30 games. While his NHL draft season is not for another three seasons, he is already considered a favourite to be drafted first overall in 2027. 

Now that the CSSHL season is complete, players who have signed their WHL Education Contract may join their WHL teams for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. This includes the top two picks from the 2023 WHL draft, Daxon Rudolph and Riley Boychuk, who have yet to make their debuts with the Prince Albert Raiders. The WHL postseason is scheduled to start on March 29, with this year's Memorial Cup being hosted by the Saginaw Spirit from May 24 through June 2.
