Ryan Getzlaf is headed to the 2026 Winter Olympics. The former Calgary Hitmen was named Team Canada's player relations advisor on Friday and is expected to play a significant role on the management team. This will be Getzlaf's third Olympics, with the Anaheim Ducks legend winning two Golds as a player in 2010 and 2014.

Before his Hall of Fame NHL career, Getzlaf was a star with the Hitmen. He sits 11th on the franchise's all-time points list with 215 and was honoured in 2015 with a banner. During his time in Calgary, he represented Canada at multiple tournaments, capturing two Golds and one Silver. Drafted 19th overall by the Ducks in 2003, his 1,019 NHL points are the most ever by a former Hitmen.

The 2026 Winter Olympics should feature plenty of former WHLers. Players like Brayden Point, Josh Morrisey, Leon Draisaitl, and Connor Bedard will all look to represent their countries with pride as the NHL returns to the Olympics for the first time since 2014. The event is set to take place from Feb. 6-22, 2026, with the hockey tournament taking place in Milan and Rho, Italy.
