Sam Reinhart was one of nine WHL alumni to capture the 2024 Stanley Cup.

After a gruelling seven-game series, the Florida Panthers are Stanley Cup Champions. The game-winning goal came from none other than former Kootenay ICE star Sam Reinhart, who scored with under five minutes remaining in the third. Reinhart can now add Stanley Cup Champion to his long list of accomplishments, which includes WHL Rookie of the Year, WHL Player of the Year and CHL Sportsman of the Year. 

In total, nine WHL alumni were part of Florida's 2024 Stanley Cup Championship. The other two players listed on the Panthers roster with WHL ties are Justin Sourdif, who played for the Vancouver Giants and Edmonton Oil Kings, as well as Josh Mahura, who spent time with the Red Deer Rebels and Regina Pats.

As for the staff, WHL alumni included assistant coach Jamie Kompon from the Portland Winterhawks and goaltending coach Rob Tallas, who was part of the Seattle Thunderbirds organization. 

Lastly, management staff included Senior Advisor Les Jackson from the Great Falls Americans and Brandon Wheat Kings, pro scout Reid Jackson, who spent time with the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Prince George Cougars and Moose Jaw Warriors, Director of Player Personnel Bryan McCabe who was part of the Medicine Hat Tigers, Spokane Chiefs and Brandon Wheat Kings as well as Director of Amateur Scouting Shane Churla who is from the Medicine Hat Tigers organization.
