A deep dive into 2024 NHL Draft prospect and Medicine Hat Tigers' forward Tomas Mrsic.

The WHL is set to play a significant role in this year's 2024 NHL Draft. 57 players were included on NHL Central Scouting's final rankings, with a handful expected to be drafted in the first round. Today's draft profile is of Medicine Hat Tigers' Tomas Mrsic, who enters the draft as the 64th-ranked North American Skater.

Mrsic proved he could stand out in a stacked organization. The Tigers' forward finished the campaign with 62 points in 63 games and saw his draft stock rise throughout the season. A well-rounded prospect with plenty of tools, he can produce highlight-reel moments that should excite fan bases across the NHL.

In the offensive zone, Mrsic's best attribute is his shot. He can beat goaltenders from anywhere on the ice and understands the importance of getting pucks on the net. While he didn't score in the postseason, he had 25 shots over five games, which shows that he can be a consistent threat when the puck is on his stick.

Listed at 5'11", 170 pounds, one underrated part of Mrsic's game is his physicality. He can win board battles with consistency and can wear down opponents by continually finishing his checks. Mrsic's physicality also comes in handy when he is carrying the puck, as he rarely is guilty of turnovers and can fight through defender's checks to keep possession.

At this point in Mrsic's development, the main focus should be bringing the rest of his skills up to the same level that his shot is currently at. If he can become a stronger skater and start finding ways to get open in the slot, he will become even more dangerous in the offensive zone. There is no doubt Mrsic is a talented player; now, he needs to show that he can take his game to the next level.

As for the draft, Mrsic is projected to be selected in the third round. If he continues to develop his game, he has the potential to be a solid middle-six forward who can contribute to the power play. Ultimately, he is a can't-miss prospect who could be stolen for whichever organization selects him.
