The Merrimack College Warriors struggled in 2022-2023. To improve they looked to Sweden for a group of recruits.

There's no where to go but up for the Merrimack College Warriors women's hockey team. After finishing last in Hockey East, Merrimack is looking for growth both internally and from their recruitment class.

Merrimack has a number of young players on their roster, who with any luck will take a collective step forward. While their incoming recruitment class lacks star power, Merrimack is bringing a solid group of players to Andover, Massachusetts. The class includes a late addition of a group of Swedish players.

Here's a look at the Merrimack women's hockey 2023-2024 recruitment class.

Emma Pfeffer, F, 2004 - If you're looking for big production, it's probably not Pfeffer, but if you're looking for a player with plenty of upside, who plays a well balanced game, Pfeffer can provide that. A former Swedish U-18 national team member, Pfeffer comes to Merrimack from the SDHL where she played with Linkoping.

Solveig Gisler, D, 2003 - At 19, Gisler already has four seasons under her belt playing with and against top professionals in the SDHL with Linkoping. She developed to a point where she served as an assistant captain with Linkoping this season. The defender is not likely to produce much offense, but she'll also be a stabilizing presence to the Merrimack blueline.

Michaela Littlewood, F, 2005 - A key contributor with the Boston Jr. Eagles, Littlewood was a point per game scorer at the 19U 'AAA' national championships with the Eagles. Littlewood could turn into the top recruit of this class.

Also joining Merrimack is Maria Lindberg, the third Swede in the class. Lindberg played for Djurgardens last season in the SDHL. Ryleigh Horlock has offensive upside scoring 24 points in 43 games last season on a strong Durham West Lightning team in the OWHL U22 Elite, while the final recruit in the class is goaltender Sophia Hausberger.
