The Boston Bruins have announced that forward Jeffrey Viel has been recalled from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

Viel, 28, has zero points, nine penalty minutes, 11 hits, and a minus-1 rating in four games this season with Boston. Overall, he has provided the Bruins with more physicality and toughness when called up. Now, he will look to give the Bruins more energy as they aim to snap their eight-game losing streak.

Viel has been impactful down in the AHL with Providence this season, posting 12 goals, 34 points, 136 penalty minutes, and a plus-15 rating in 62 games. He has also been heating up down the stretch, posting four goals and eight points in his last eight contests with the AHL squad.

It will be interesting to see how Viel performs during his latest call-up with the Bruins from here. In 53 career NHL games over four seasons split between the San Jose Sharks and Bruins, he has three goals, five points, 123 hits, and a minus-10 rating.
