The Boston Bruins have announced that they have signed prospect Dans Locmelis to a three-year entry-level contract, which will kick in during the 2025-26 season. In addition, the Original Six club announced that Locmelis will join the Providence Bruins on an amateur tryout for the remainder of this campaign.
Locmelis, 21, was selected by the Bruins with the 119th overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Following this, the 6-foot center spent each of the last two seasons with UMass-Amherst. Now, after signing this ELC, he is set to begin his professional career.
Locmelis is coming off a strong season with UMass, setting new career highs with eight goals, 25 assists, and 33 points in 40 games. This was after he had seven goals and 14 points in 30 games with the school as a freshman in 2023-24.
Locmelis is one of the Bruins' top prospects, so it is significant that they got him signed to this ELC. It will be intriguing to see how much of an impact he can make with the Bruins later down the road from here.
